Influence of post-heat treatments on fatigue response of low-alloyed carbon-manganese steel material manufactured by Direct Energy Deposition-Arc technique

The main idea of this paper is improving fatigue response a low-alloyed carbon-manganese steel material manufactured by Direct Energy Deposition-Arc technique using post-heat treatments. Four series specimens are machined from 3D printed wall. samples austenitized following direct quenching and tempering processes at two different temperatures. All subjected to rotating bending loading conditions. Next, microhardness, microstructures fracture surfaces the analysed. Despite very low carbon content, full martensitic transformation was observed after treatments which resulted in considerably higher lifetimes compared non-treated ones. quenched gave best improvement when as-printed tempered samples.
